The New Global Challengers by BCG

The latest Boston Consulting Group report on globalization identifies 100 companies that are shaking up the established economy.

These are companies based in rapidly developing countries. BCG calls them the global challengers. “A group of companies from rapidly developing economies has begun to leapfrog past established multinationals in global industry rankings.” Brazil has 13 companies in the list, while China accounts for 33, India 20 and Russia 6.

Brazil’s  global challengers according to BCG are:

Brazil Foods

Camargo Correa

Embraer

Petrobras

Coteminas

JBS

Gerdau

Magnesita Refratarios

Natura

Oderbrercht

Petrobras

Votorantim

WEG

And Vale, the mining company, among the select group of  BCG Challenger Emeriti. In this group BCG identified companies emerging from global challengers role to resemble established multinationals.

Thanks to Prof. Alvaro Cyrino from FGV who draw my attention to this report.
