What has to be done for Rio to top London Olympics?

Mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes waves the Olympic flag

London was considered for some one of the best olympic games ever for its smooth delivery.

Rio de Janeiro received  the olympic flag and is officially the Olympic city… in other words: it is already under scrutiny.

Both cities are metropolitan areas of over 12 million people.

While in London, the Department of Transport expected 500,000 tourists between July 17 and August 18, with an additional 70,000 athletes and officials.

Rio expects to welcome more than a million tourists and more than 10,500 athletes over 15 days but will have only 34,000 hotel rooms for 2016.

Is it ready? More importantly, in your opinion, where lies the opportunities of investiment?

Following the Casa Brasil events in London, Rio Negocios will host conferences in France, Spain and Germany, during a roadshow to present opportunities in the region. check our last post if you want to attend.

  1. For Brazil to excel it needs to embrace the true spirit of the Olympics, the same spirit that resides in the heart of most of its athletes but not in the rest of us. For Brazil the Olympics are all about money. How to get in on the early money, event money and post event money. In this regard I don’t thing Brazil will ever be ready for the Olympics, not in the true spirit. tom
