After consolidating its position last year in Brazil, America Movil the biggest telecom carrier in Mexico, announced that it had agreed to buy a 21% equity stake in Telekom Austria.
Telekom Austria is an integrated telecom operator serving almost 23 million customers in Central and Eastern Europe, including: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Belarus, Slovenia, Serbia, the Republic of Macedonia and Liechtenstein.
Strategic move
America Movil expands in Europe taking advantage of increased macroeconomic weakness and threatens the influence of rival Telefónica.
