The waters of April

Bumba Hill in Niteroi

I am safe, in Paris,  as Rio went through a nightmare in the last days. I ask myself where were the municipality officers when these homes were built? Why all the trash was on the hills? How were the pluvial system made? Certainly, the mayor of Niteroi, Jorge Roberto Silveira will fire many city officials responsable for this.

I find it dramatic to know that much of the tragedy could have been prevented.  What apparently is  “social” complacence in truth, is political compromise. And because it is difficult to see the consequences of these acts they go on and on.My thoughts  and prayers go to the victims and their families.

  1. Macroeconomy does not always reflects on peoples life. Brazil is a diverse country. While there has been huge advances in many fronts, many municipalities still do politics in the old demagogic way.
